Then, creation of form-fitting foam harness enhanced safety and comfort.\u00a0 This new foam led them tangentially into backpack pads, straps and belts.\u00a0 From there, they became the go-to R&amp;D partner for key textile innovators such as W.L. Gore (Gore-Tex\u00ae) and Malden Mills (Polartec\u00ae).\u00a0 Working with the Gore team, Arc\u2019Teryx invented fusing (instead of sewing)\u00a0seams on Gore-Tex\u00ae jackets. \u00a0The process avoided needle puncture so that seams no longer leaked. \u00a0Arc\u2019Teryx\u2019s testing obsession earned them the trust of these leading textile partners.\u00a0 R&amp;D remains at the core of their business and operating strategies.\u00a0 A new segment designs gear jointly with the US military, complementing their internally developed LEAF line sold to the Army Special Forces, US Marines, and Navy Seals.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Arc&#039;teryx LEAF: From Conception to Realization.\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/83793707?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>OPERATING MODEL<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The care and concern for R&amp;D flows through to product development, sourcing, human resources, sales planning, marketing, IT and customer service.\u00a0 Sales growth has necessitated global manufacturing partners.\u00a0 Factories are carefully screened.\u00a0 It takes an average of 4 years for a commitment to a new supplier.\u00a0 Their production and quality staffs fly around the world teaching suppliers proprietary handling, bonding, sewing and construction.<\/p>\n<p>New product design input comes from material and construction engineers as well as traditional designers.\u00a0 Small pieces of a jacket may have 11 different folds just to make sure the jacket is absolutely waterproof.\u00a0 Products are thoroughly tested, tweaked, and continuously re-tested in all weather conditions before they are released as final designs.\u00a0 Employees ARE customers.\u00a0 Employee and professional athlete product testing is one of the most critical parts of the R&amp;D process.\u00a0 As the Amer head of apparel, Vincent Wauters, describes: \u201cwhen I came here I saw that people have that special \u2018fire\u2019 in their eyes and I still believe it is the people that drive the success of the business. Each product has a \u2018family\u2019 which takes care of the product from the very beginning: the designer, the pattern maker and the sewer. We also do the product testing ourselves, and produce the most premium products here in Vancouver\u201d.\u00a0 The process is very expensive but maintains mission focus.\u00a0 Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone on a powder day.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Commit: Inspired Design\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/136771484?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963\" width=\"640\" and Amer Sports in 2005, operating independence has persisted.\u00a0 It\u2019s surprising that they were not forced to change their operating model.\u00a0 30% annual growth keeps parent organizations at bay.\u00a0 This allowed them to keep their people, product development, sourcing, human resources, sales planning, marketing, IT and customer service separate.<\/p>\n<p><a data-flickr-embed='true' href="https:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mkwilliams\/sets\/72157622070413952" title='Arc&#039;teryx Factory Tour by A Continuous Lean, on Flickr'><img charset='utf-8'><\/script><\/p>\n<p><em>FUTURE BUSINESS PLAN<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Most recently, Arc\u2019Teryx is trying to serve their active customer through more fashionable yet still functional streetwear and footwear.\u00a0 Says company president Tyler Jordan, \u201cwe try to create product with some inherent truth in terms of the design or the function, but at a certain point, I became aware that a lot of people were buying Arc\u2019teryx products without much intention of wearing them in the back country [\u2026] wouldn\u2019t it be even better if we focused on what they are actually going to use it for?&#8221; This led to a high-end menswear line Veilance, Arc\u2019Teryx shoes and an everyday line called 24.\u00a0 The team never rushes new products but waits for perfection before launching.\u00a0 Customers understand and expect this. \u00a0The company continues investing in R&amp;D to drive international and e commerce sales.\u00a0 Wauters claims \u201cgrowth comes from consumer centric product excellence, in store excellence, distribution coverage expansion and investing in brand awareness\u201d.\u00a0 Plans are to grow organically by responding to
