Kingfisher Airlines which was India\u2019s second largest airline shut shop\u00a0in 2012 owing $2.5B to stakeholders. SpiceJet temporarily suspended flights last December after it run out of cash. Jet Airways, the oldest and supposedly leading private player, has not been profitable since 2007.<\/p>\n<p>With rivals in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, IndiGo Airlines has proved a bastion of efficiency and growth. Founded less than a decade ago, IndiGo is the not just\u00a0the only profitable airline in India, it has been profitable since 2009! India\u2019s biggest airline by market share, IndiGo Airlines currently carries one in three of India\u2019s passengers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i4tsk12in2b2y7uts14c528g-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/11\/aircraft.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-313\" src=\"https:\/\/i4tsk12in2b2y7uts14c528g-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2015\/11\/aircraft-300x168.jpeg\" alt=\"aircraft\" width=\"332\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>BUSINESS MODEL<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The no-frills carrier has a clear positioning \u2013 it promises to offer customers:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>\u201cFares that are always low\u201d:\u00a0<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Budget airline positioning with consistent, low pricing but\u00a0no heavy discounts.<\/li>\n<li>No business or first class offering.<\/li>\n<li>No lounges, food or extravagant frills in customer service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>\u201cFlights that are on time&#8221;<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The primary differentiator and branding pitch is &#8220;on time, every time&#8221;, while competitors solely advertise low fares.
