In this regard, my recommendations are as follows:<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Revenue sharing business model<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; NEC should propose a fee structure with initial payment to (partly) recoup its sensor cost, and a profit-sharing model based on pre-agreed metrics.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Partnership<\/strong> &#8211; Tie-up with local water engineering companies which have strong relationship with utility companies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3) Local involvement<\/strong> &#8211; Standardize sensor manufacturing procedure so that local manufactures could also play a role\u00a0of supply chain. In my previous experiences, water network industry is highly localized; many utility companies prefer to use local companies for political reasons. Since preventing leakage\u00a0could potentially lose local contractors\u2019 job to fix it, NEC should consider providing opportunity for local contractors to enjoy some benefits.<\/p>\n<p>(Word Count: 799)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Reference:<\/p>\n<p>[1] &#8220;Global Water Market 2017&#8221; by Global Water Intelligence<\/p>\n<p>[2] Photo cited from http:\/\/www.sasakura.co.jp\/e\/products\/water\/106.html (Accessed in Nov. 2016)<\/p>\n<p>[3] Photo cited from\u00a0http:\/\/www.phillywatersheds.org\/category\/blog-tags\/news-stream?page=4 (Accessed in Nov. 2016)<\/p>\n<p>[4]\u00a0&#8220;Global Water Market 2017&#8221; by Global Water Intelligence<\/p>\n<p>[5]\u00a0&#8220;Global Water Market 2017&#8221; by Global Water Intelligence<\/p>\n<p>[6]\u00a0&#8220;Global Water Market 2017&#8221; by Global Water Intelligence<\/p>\n<p>[7]\u00a0&#8220;Global Water Market 2017&#8221; by Global Water Intelligence<\/p>\n<p>[8]\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/Water-Main-Break-Raises-Questions-About-Citys-Aging-Pipes-269410741.html\">http:\/\/www.nbclosangeles.com\/news\/local\/Water-Main-Break-Raises-Questions-About-Citys-Aging-Pipes-269410741.html<\/a>\u00a0 (Accessed in Nov. 2016)<\/p>\n<p>[9]\u00a0http:\/\/www.hbs.edu\/news\/articles\/Pages\/macomber-flint-michigan.aspx\u00a0 (Accessed in Nov. 2016)<\/p>\n<p>[10] Photo cited from\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/webtown.nagayo.jp\/suido\/okyaku\/main14.html\">http:\/\/webtown.nagayo.jp\/suido\/okyaku\/main14.html<\/a>\u00a0 (Accessed in Nov. 2016)<\/p>\n<p>[11] NEC Technical Report Vol. 67, No.1<\/p>\n<p>[12]\u00a0NEC Technical Report Vol. 67, No.1<\/p>\n<p>[13]\u00a0http:\/\/www.nec.com\/en\/global\/solutions\/waterloss-management\/images\/\u00a0 (Accessed in Nov. 2016)<\/p>\n<p>[14]\u00a0http:\/\/www.arlington-tx.gov\/news\/2015\/07\/16\/arlington-and-nec-partner-to-conduct-water-leak-detection-trial\/\u00a0 (Accessed in Nov. 2016)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NEC, Japanese IT Company, tries to enter water market through digitization strategy, a move which could potentially innovate water network through power of IT network<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1984,"featured_media":14576,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","template":"","categories":[298,475,2046,2045,427],"class_list":["post-14572","hck-submission","type-hck-submission","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-big-data","category-cloud","category-network","category-sensor","category-water"],"connected_submission_link":"https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-rctom\/assignment\/digitization-challenge-2016\/","yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
