Sometimes if am extremely lucky the friend is also able to clearly explain what was wrong in my approach<\/li>\n<li>Reach out to my older sister who supposedly should be an expert of lower level homework \u2013 again only when I was very lucky was she able to \u201ckind of help\u201d<\/li>\n<li>Most of the time I would end up with this third expensive option: getting a tutor to support me. I used to find those tutors to be very complicated and most of the time pretended to understand the logic behind the solution of a problem.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With all digital tools we have today, I may have a better solution that could completely disrupt the tutor industry:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-digit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/03\/blog-eLearning-templates.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7315\" src=\"https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-digit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/03\/blog-eLearning-templates-300x150.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-digit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/03\/blog-eLearning-templates-300x150.png 300w, https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-digit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/03\/blog-eLearning-templates-768x384.png 768w, https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-digit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/03\/blog-eLearning-templates-1024x512.png 1024w, https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-digit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/03\/blog-eLearning-templates-600x300.png 600w, https:\/\/d3.harvard.edu\/platform-digit\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2018\/03\/blog-eLearning-templates.png 2000w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A platform where struggling students post specific questions about a homework\/ exam preparation. The platform would transfer the question to the most suited network of people based on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>School level<\/li>\n<li>Geographic location (as school in different countries might have different topics covered)<\/li>\n<li>Topic of question<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For example, If I am a 6<sup>th<\/sup> grader in Boston and have a math question \u2013 the platform will show the question to other 6<sup>th<\/sup> graders in Boston who have pledged to be math experts. Only if I don\u2019t get an answer within 5 minutes will the platform relegate the question to a wider network.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Value creation:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fast answer to questions by relevant people who understand the strugglers and speak with the same level of complexity.1<\/li>\n<li>Making tough homework solving a fun social activity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u>Value capture:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Like Wikipedia \u2013 donation based (ask users to donate as much as they can to help maintain the platform). People should be willing to donate given how much saving is expected vs. the traditional tutor solution.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Why would strugglers join?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This solution is not only cheaper than the traditional approach, but also more fun and interactive. By asking people from our tenure students wouldn\u2019t feel intimidated to ask \u201cstupid\u201d questions. Also, the explanation coming from a person of the same age and tenure or close enough increases the likelihood of understanding since people from same age use same languae.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Why would solvers join?<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The solvers will be rated based on the effectiveness of their answer and frequency of support. The top ranked ones will be rewarded on the platform very visibly.
