Unlocking the problem-solving power of generative AI

Join Mitch Weiss and Stephen Goldsmith for a conversation on how generative AI is beginning to reshape the practice of city government as a tool for improving performance, decision-making, and imagination. Drawing on Goldsmith鈥檚 decades of experience leading data-driven reform incites and Weiss鈥檚 work on 鈥減ossibility government,鈥 this webinar examines how AI can move performance management beyond top-down dashboards toward more distributed, continuous problem solving. They鈥檒l highlight how GenAI can help ask better questions of data, contextualize policy decisions through the lived experiences of residents, and responsibly experiment with new solutions without losing sight of institutional constraints. This session offers a grounded framework for pairing change initiatives with emerging technologies to make government and organizations more responsive, creative, and trustworthy.

While AI represents the most powerful wave of innovation in a generation, public sentiment toward it is increasingly polarized and weary. Many workers feel that AI is being done to them, not for them. The dominant feeling across much of the American workforce is disenchantment, the sense that they played by the rules, but the system changed.

With this in mind, Leading With AI 2026鈥檚 Virtual Conference is centered around taking back control. This is a moment, not just a meeting, where we as humanity decide the direction of AI rather than having AI happen to us without our ability to steer its direction.

The AI revolution has been led by executives and technologists, but lived by workers. This is a call to rebalance the conversation, to bring AI down to earth: to the factory floor, the classroom, the cubicle, the small business, and the kitchen table.

The Open and User Innovation (OUI) Society and the HBS AI Institute and 性视界 Business School cordially invite you to the 23rd Annual International Conference on Open and User Innovation.

For over two decades, the OUI Conference has served as a leading forum for research on how users, communities, and open systems drive innovation. In 2026, as generative and agentic AI technologies become embedded in the infrastructure of work and creativity, the locus of innovation is undergoing a profound transformation. Innovation is no longer driven solely by individual users or open communities, but increasingly by human鈥揂I collectives that depend on large-scale computational infrastructures with real economic, environmental, and societal consequences.

This year鈥檚 conference explores how artificial intelligence is reshaping the foundations of open and user innovation. We invite scholars to examine how AI reshapes collaboration, expertise, and governance across users, communities, firms, and teams. Through keynote talks, paper sessions, and interactive discussions, the conference aims to advance theory, evidence, and methods for understanding innovation in an era where human-AI collaboration is becoming a central organizing principle of creative work and organizational decision-making.
